The main characters in the book Twilight are Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen. There are many other characters in this book but I'm only going to tell you about the two main ones. Stephanie Meyer, the author of this book, directly describes Isabella and Edward.
Isabella Swan is a 17 year old girl from Phoenix and she prefers to be called Bella. She was ivory-skinned with blue eyes and brown/red hair. Bella had always been slender, but soft somehow, obviously not an athlete. She didn't have the necessary hand-eye coordination to play sports without humiliating herself. She doesn't mind being alone; she likes to keep to herself. Bella doesn't think she relates well to people her age.
Edward Cullen is a 17 year old boy. He was less bulky than his siblings with untidy, bronze-colored hair. Edward had chalky pale skin with dark eyes. He also had dark shadows under his eyes. They were purplish bruise like shadows as if he was suffering from a sleepless night. Bella thought he had a beautiful face; one that you might see in a fashion magazine. Edward is quiet and mysterious. In the beginning of the book he acts very strange around Bella. Later on Bella was talking to a friend and he gave her the thought of Edward possibly being a vampire.

It is interesting how writers always portray vampires as being beautiful - it is how they attract people to them so they can feed on them. I wonder why no one else seems very interested in the Cullens - only Bella. And the Cullens really aren't interested in any one else - except for Bella.
